New Years Resolution

I thought long and hard about my resolutions this year. I thought of a lot of things that I'd like to do (call family and friends more, take exercising more seriously, crochet a sweater for my cat) but I wanted to keep it simple with just one major resolution. That way, I can really focus on it and dedicate myself to it.

Today I was watching a commercial on the Oprah Winfrey Network (did you know about this? I sure didn't until today), and Jay-Z was there saying something along the lines of "the most successful people in life know who they are and are true to who they are."

And SO, my resolution for 2010 is to let myself forget my past blunders and misgivings and be the girl that I am and the girl that I want to be without worrying about everyone else. For me, it's easy to get caught in the trap of being what I think my friends, family, and coworkers want me to be. But, being that way feels weird and silly, like I'm watching myself play a role in a movie.

So, that's what I'm going to shoot for this year. Who knows what it will bring, but hopefully a chosen career path will fall into place somewhere. If it works for Jay-Z, then I'm sure it will work for me. Wish me luck.
